Sindy Helena Stilwell is a Los Angeles-born, Springfield-based painter and muralist. She earned her BFA from Evangel University in 2017.

Her work focuses on identity, heritage, and memory, often expressed through portraits, memorial paintings, and large-scale murals.

Drawing on her Mexican and Salvadoran roots, Sindy creates visually rich, narrative-driven pieces that engage communities and honor shared experiences.

Artist Statement

I paint from the space between places, cultures, and memories. Born in Los Angeles and shaped by the Midwest, I carry the quiet tension of belonging and longing—the beauty of holding multiple identities at once. Rooted in my Mexican and Salvadoran heritage, I explore what it means to remember, honor, and connect through color, gesture, and form.

My identity in Christ is the bridge that holds it all together. With Him, it doesn’t matter where I’m from—I am whole, seen, and known.

Through every brushstroke, I create space for memory, culture, and stories to be seen. My work builds bridges, honors what is past, and celebrates the connections that bind us here and now.
